Henrietta, NY (WHAM) – A suspected repeat offender is among 34 arrests the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office made in a shoplifting case in Henrietta last month.
The details targeted shoplifters at multiple stores in Henrietta on November 25 and 26. Among those arrested was 38-year-old Jonathan Rivera-Lopez, who police say has engaged in a significant amount of criminal activity since August.

Surveillance footage shared by MCSO allegedly shows Rivera-Lopez arriving at a store in Henrietta on Nov. 26 in a stolen Ford F-150. Rivera-Lopez was arrested and is facing several charges.
These recent charges include burglary, two counts of grand larceny, three counts of criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief and petit larceny.
“He arrived that day in a stolen vehicle, (and) there was another man who was taken into custody in that stolen vehicle,” Watson explained. “In addition to the petty theft that we accused him of, he was charged with that. also stolen car. This is an ongoing problem with Mr. Lopez – he has been doing this for months, so there have been multiple occasions where these thefts have occurred.
Watson said Rivera-Lopez has several warrants for her arrest in Monroe County.
In late August, he was accused of leading officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle, backing into a marked Greek police car and nearly hitting a Monroe County officer. He was charged and released without bail.
“It appears there were instances where he was working with other people,” Watson said. “We have not identified those other people.”
According to court documents, after his release in August, Rivera-Lopez is accused of stealing a 2023 Dodge Durango and a Honda Passport from the Frederick Douglas Greater Rochester International Airport.
Officers said he also stole a Chrysler minivan, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Chevrolet Silverado from businesses on Scottsville Road.
“In some of these airport thefts, he would dress up as an airport worker and basically fool people into giving him their rental keys by saying he was going to park the car and he would just take the car and leave the lot. would leave the airport,” Watson said.
On Oct. 24, officers said Rivera-Lopez was found driving a stolen Ford Bronco in Rochester. To avoid arrest, he allegedly drove recklessly, causing officers to abandon the pursuit.
Watson said it was frustrating that the suspect was released without bail several times.
“You have a man who has been involved in three separate police pursuits and is released the next day,” Watson said. “The chases are extremely dangerous; we chase these people through frequently occupied city streets, endangering public safety.”
MCSO said 34 people were arrested and 20 warrants issued during the two-day shoplifting case.
Rivera-Lopez is being held in the Monroe County Jail on $1,000 bail.
